she started in about how sister soandso is a pioneer, and since she considers this her career, she claims things like shoes, gas, clothes, and even if she has a part on a circuit or district, she claims the expenses for hotels and such.
As a group most JW's are probably more ethical in this area than most citizens. There are numerous legitimate deductions and loopholes. I've always considered myself very ethical in this regard.
As a broad statement Yes or No....do JW's cheat on their taxes.....I say No.

Fuzzy Paul.....I've tried not to say anything....but, your Baptist dribble bores me. I grew up in the Baptist faith, have family still strong in the Baptist faith, neighbors were always mostly Baptists, and worked predominately with Baptists my whole life. When becoming a JW, I probably studied the Baptist faith just as much, because that's the preachers & people I dealt with in the territory. If you think your newfound Baptist church is "the truth" you are sadly mistaken my friend.
You being an X-JW, I have no problem with you coming here. But, to be judgemental of other X-JW's that disagree with your Baptist dribble....maybe, you need to take that crap to people who want to hear it. Most people here come to support each other, not be encouraged to join a larger cult.

If the sin occurred "YEARS" ago why are they dredging it up now?
Because they love this kind of nonsense. Gives some a sense of power, some get to boast of their self-reighteousness, and some actually get some sick stimulation of hearing about others sexcapades. Some are sincere, but it's only because they believe WTS law calls for this action to be taken.
I'm not saying you can sin with impunity and remain a very visable part of the cong., but each situation is unique. From what I gather of the situation, since it was brought to the elders attention, it should have been a 1 meeting encouraging discussion to sin no more, then case closed. The elders are either trying to make him bow down to their conceived absolute authority, just like hearing this stuff, or are more interested in the questioning of WTS doctrine.

i don't know the details as i can't view youtube from work, but it did get me to thinking.... over the last couple of decades, at least, i've noticed that more and more 'fringe personalities', for a lack of a better term, have infiltrated the ranks of the everyday jws.
true, jws are themselves a fringe element to normal society, but even within their own communities, there used to be a sense of normalcy, or at least seemed to be.. has the cultic message of the wt society started attracting people with different thought processes over this time period?

I've not been in 15 yrs and after being brought up to speed on things here......I've actually contemplated going to the Memorial, April 15 WT study and perhaps 1/2 day of a circuit assembly just to see what the freak show has evolved into.

i haven't regularly watched in years, so i don't know if the episode i just saw is a repeat or new .. but the final jeopardy question was about the bible.
the winner knew the answer, the others didn't.
i certainly had no idea whatsoever.
On one Jeopardy episode Alex Trebek was doing his small talk intoduction with a woman from Texas and it went something like this.
Alex- Judy is from Texas and wanted it to snow on her wedding day.
Judy- Yes Alex. Snow is very rare in Texas and the weather forcast said we were going to get a lot of snow on my wedding day.
Alex- So did it snow on your wedding day?
Judy- No it didn't snow on my wedding Alex. But, I got 8 inches on my honeymoon!
